How to Install a New Web Browser

If you’re having trouble downloading files in Internet Explorer, you can install an alternative web browser by following these methods.

Method 1: Using Google Chrome Installer

  1. Download Chrome Installer
    On your personal computer, visit the official Google Chrome website: Download Chrome to download the installer.

  2. Connect to Your Server
    Use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to connect to your server.

  3. Transfer the Installer
    Copy the Chrome installer from your personal computer and paste it onto the desktop of your RDP session.

  4. Install Chrome
    Run the installer on the RDP server and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.


Method 2: Enabling Downloads in Internet Explorer

If you prefer to use Internet Explorer but are having issues with downloads, you may need to enable file downloads:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Access Internet Options
    Click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

  3. Navigate to the Security Tab
    In the Internet Options dialog, click the Security tab.

  4. Custom Security Settings
    Click on Custom Level.

  5. Enable File Downloads
    Scroll to the Downloads section. Under File download, select Enable, then click OK.

  6. Confirm Changes
    In the confirmation dialog, click Yes, then click OK, followed by Apply and OK again.

Now you can download files, including installers for other web browsers.
